Mike Tyree
Co-owner & CEO

Michael was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was his own personal struggles in his young adult life, and then mastery of them, that led him into the field of motivational and fitness coaching.
Michael graduated from and completed an addiction studies program at Bethany College. Among many other adventures, professionally and personally, Michael is a former lead ropes course instructor, and built and ran the health & wellness department at CRC Health Group in Scotts Valley. He started his private coaching practice in 2007. Through the years as a drug and alcohol addiction counselor and fitness trainer, he developed his own practice and unique style of one-to-one support as a Motivational Life Coach and Personal Trainer. That then morphed into being Co-owner with Ron Gerstien and Tyffanie Epps here at Scotts Valley Gym. He is now CEO of Scotts Valley Gym and still a Life Coach. He successfully raised a daughter as a single parent and is now raising a second child with his amazing wife Karen. His focus is to create a community of health and fitness and help You create a better YOU!!

Educational Background:Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts
Training Skill Sets: Athletic Training (Strength, Speed and Conditioning), Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, and Olympic Lifting.
Nutrition Skill Sets: Basic fundamentals of nutrition, therapeutic nutrition targeting specific health concerns like diabetes, high blood pressure, adrenal fatigue, and cardiovascular health; developing a balanced nutrition plan specific to each client ‘s goals; and education on food (where your food comes from, what to look for when food shopping, and how to properly prepare food for optimal health benefits).
Brandon’s passion for health and wellness started when he was young. He participated in many different sports growing up- football, lacrosse, basketball, tennis, and snowboarding. Participating in and teaching a variety of different training programs, of all levels, has given Brandon the knowledge and experience to train others with proper form and technique. Brandon strongly believes that there must be a balance between exercise and nutrition, not only for weight loss, but more importantly to live a happy and healthy life. Brandon graduated the Bauman College in 2016, giving him a wealth of knowledge and a strong background in nutrition with a holistic emphasis.
Brandon’s goal is to help inspire, educate, and implement better and healthier habits for his clients to reach their optimal health goals.

Erik has 20 years experience personal training, he has trained all ability levels from 14 to 92 years of age, from no experience to top collegiate athlete. Erik is currently NETA certified in personal training and has held ACE and IFPA certifications in the past, he continues to conduct personal training at Scotts Valley Gym, Bootcamps at Skypark and provides home training services. “I love doing personal training! I get as much satisfaction as my client when through hard work they achieve their goals. The trainer feeds as much off the energy of the client as the client feeds off the energy of the trainer. I always bring my A game.”

Ellen’s love of fitness began when her dad signed her up for soccer at the age five. Through her school years she excelled at all sports including swimming, soccer and volleyball. Following her graduation at San Lorenzo Valley High school, Ellen joined the Army. It is in the military that she discovered the positive effects of nutrition, exercise and commitment. During her seven years in the Army she spent countless hours training in the gym, and received specialized guidance and support from her military mentors. Ellen’s passion for fitness has only grown stronger over the years as she could see how proper exercise and food choices can change someone’s life. Ellen has exceptional experience in strength training, endurance and circuit training. Ellen is now back home in the Santa Cruz Mountains seeking to educate the community about fitness and health.
Bailey Schletewitz

Bailey has been a personal trainer since 2009 and has worked with a variety of individuals including competitive athletes, people seeking to improve balance and movement function, and people looking to lose weight and increase strength. Bailey’s passion for fitness began at a very young age. She participated in many sports growing up including volleyball, snowboarding, golf and softball which she played at COS college in Visalia, CA. She also has background as a rehabilitation technician where she has learned corrective exercise techniques to alleviate and fix sports-related and other types of injuries. Bailey’s goal as a trainer is to help others reach their optimal health and live a healthier balanced lifestyle.
Joey
Trainer
Joey grew up in Santa Cruz where he started training martial arts at age 4, sparked by an early love for pro wrestling, and kung fu movies. At 13 he began studying mixed martial arts and Thai kickboxing. He has also coached basketball, and currently runs the kid’s martial arts program at IMS.
Joey studied sport performance, and nervous system training with the Marinovich brothers, where he’s had the opportunity to train many professional athletes. Joey is a certified integrated martial sciences instructor, and active MMA competitor.
He is passionate about helping you reach your fitness goals, and build your confidence with a fun boxing based workout!
Jacki
Personal Trainer & Sports Nutrition Coach
Fitness has always been a constant in Jacki’s life. After begging her Dad to play soccer at 5 years old, she continues to go on to playing many team sports. Throughout high school, Jacki played on a club soccer team, her high school soccer team and ran cross country. Jacki has always loved a challenge and she put everything she had into the sports she played. When she started college, the gym became her home away from home and she continued to run for fun. Before classes or after work, Jacki challenged herself in all different types of training. She tried a variety of classes and weightlifting, but it wasn’t until she transferred to Boise State University where she was introduced to strength training; It was then, that Jacki found her place in the gym. After graduating with her degree in microbiology and minor in chemistry, Jacki was in search of a new challenge; that turned out to be the army. In the army, Jacki ran on the run team and continued strength training in the gym. Now, Jacki is here at Scott’s valley gym, as a personal trainer and our sports nutrition coach.
